Step-by-Step Guide to Measuring Your Kitchen

1. Draw Your Kitchen Layout

• Sketch the basic shape of your kitchen, including all walls where cabinets will be installed.

• Outline your existing cabinet layout or new design ideas if you’re planning changes.

2. Mark Windows & Doors

• Label all windows and doors in your sketch.

• Indicate which way each door swings open.

3. Identify Appliance Locations

• Mark where major appliances (stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, and sink) are located or will be placed.

4. Measure Key Areas (Rounding to the nearest inch is fine!)

a. Walls, Windows & Doors:

• Measure wall to wall where uninterrupted.

• For windows and doors, measure from outer trim to outer trim rather than just the opening.

• Measure the distance from walls to the edges of windows/doors.

b. Ceiling Height:

• Measure from the floor to the ceiling at multiple points to account for variations.

c. Cabinet & Counter Depth:

• Measure the depth of your countertops (from the front edge to the wall).

• Indicate areas that have upper, lower, or both types of cabinets.
